Project Life Week 11

Week 11 . . .

Week 11 was a good week. The sun finally came out and started melting all the snow. Matthew was excited to take his new mountain bike out for the first time. So funny to see winter coats and bike helmets, only in Calgary! I wanted to take a photo of the gas pump, I thought it would be interesting to look back on this one day and see what we paid. A picture of what my desk looked like the first day of my new job. And of course the weekend was full of hockey.

Supplies used: the week card come from Becky Higgins Seafoam kit. Is it just me or does anyone else stress about the week cards? I dont know why but I find it the hardest part of my weekly spread sometimes. I am still using Ali Edwards week brush on the date cards and plan to do this for most of the year. The random facts card is also from Ali Edwards. I made the spring fever card by adding a word brush and some alphabet sticks from Sn@p. I am very happy with how it turned out.The and then title card and the green journal card was from Studio Calico's Roundabout kit. I added a label and alphabet stickers to the journal card and attached it with two tiny Tim Holz staples (I love my tiny stapler). The boys will be boys card is an older card from Elle's Studio.

That's it for this week. Thanks for looking.

I am linking up with momcreative again this week. A great place for amazing ideas. Check it out if you haven't already.

Project Life Week 10

March 4 - March 10, 2013

Around here week 10 was a fun one. Matthew and I got new skis, I took the kids to glow bowling, Marcus went to his first official birthday party and we had a blast making a snowman. I don't think I have made a snowman since I was a little kid. It was a lot of fun! One sad note though, our fish Dory died. That is our first experience with loss and the kids took it very well.

Have you seen this yet? I just love it. You basically take any video that you have and make a QR code for it which you can then scan and watch. How great is this? I love that I can keep little videos in my scrapbook. There are lots of tutorials out there or feel free to ask me for help. This particular video is of my little guy singing Call Maybe. The picture beside it is just a still photo from the video.

I apologize that my pictures aren't that bright. I am still playing around with the best location and way to take the pictures.

Products used: This week my title card is from Becky Higgins Seafoam kit. This fish is a drawing that my son drew for our fish. Love that I can include art work in here. The arrows and word brush are from Ali Edwards. I love this girl and I use her digital brushes a lot. On the left side again I was just using up some old Echo Park collection that I have and the how to build a snowman was a freebie I found online.

Thanks for looking.

Project Life Week 9

I decided that since I am so far behind on my 2014 PL book that I would start by sharing some posts from my just completed  (yay me!) 2013 book.

I love this project. I love it lets me just slip a photo in and I can make it as fancy or as simple as I want. I felt overwhelmed keeping up with my regular scrapbooking and also felt I was missing out on the little details of our life. So thank you Becky Higgins for creating an easy way to document our lives.

Today I am sharing week 9

It was a busy week around here. Matthew celebrated his 100 days at school and he turned 6. There are some birthday photos from Montana's Restaurant where they place a large Moose head on the birthday child and sing Happy Birthday. Its pretty funny. We also had yet another hockey tournament and took the boys to the mountains to ski for this first time.

This is week is more photo heavy so not a lot of product. The title card is from  Becky Higgins Jade kit and the Remember This is from her Seafoam kit. I also used the Ali Edwards Weeks for all my title cards this year. I just love them! The quote card was a freebie but I can't remember where it came from. Used some snippets from Elle's Studio and the car journal card is from an older Echo park collection. I enjoyed journaling right on the photos this week.

And that's it for week 9.

I will be sharing a link to this post on The Mom Creative blog.

Lego Birthday Party

I am so excited to share the details from my son's 7th birthday (Lego style)! Matthew has been anxiously awaiting the new Lego Movie to come out, so when I found out that it was being released the weekend before his birthday, I knew that was going to be the birthday plan. I don't have a ton of photos because 13 boys keep me pretty busy but I will share what I have.

Lets start with the invitation. I whipped this up in Photoshop Elements. I love how it turned out and it was actually really easy. I bought bright colored envelopes to match and handed them out to the kids

For the decorations I kept things pretty simple. I printed out a couple banners using a free Lego font that you can find here. I used Photoshop to outline the letters in yellow, printed them off on white paper and glued them to bright colored cardstock. On the table I just used bright colored plates, cups and napkins. Easy and simple.

Dessert. You know when you spend hours in the kitchen trying to make this perfect cake for a bunch of little people that just end up eating the icing off the cake and then proclaim they are done? Well not this year. This year I made the bold decision to not make a cake. Instead we did Build Your Own Sundaes (keeping in line with the building theme). It was a huge hit and I had so much fun setting up this Lego scene.

Finally the loots bags. I was thrilled to find out Lego released a new minifigure series just for the movie. I purchased one for every kid. I wanted one more thing in the bags so after searching pinterest I found Lego poop. Those with boys know that anything poop related is a hit.  I couldn't find any bag toppers online that I liked so I made some in Photoshop and filled clear treat bags with M&Ms. I just love them and would be happy to share my template if anyone wants it.

Tricia at Farmish Momma had a great idea for craft bags. This was really easy. Michaels has cheap colored bags and using my circle punch I just cut out matching colored cardstock and used glue dots to stick them onto the bag. The glue dots let the circles pop off the bag instead of laying flat.

Hello . . .

Well I did. I made a blog. I have been wanting to do this for awhile and so today was the day.

I have gotten so many amazing ideas and inspiration from other bloggers out there that I wanted to give a little back.

This blog is meant to be a place that I can share the little details of my life that matter to me and that hopefully inspire you to create your own pretty things.
